According to his biography, Carroll began his musical career in Cork City, Ireland during the great ballad boom of the 60s. One of his first regular gigs was playing in a local pub, which became a great launching pad for young balladeers.

In the 90s, Carroll decided to take a break from music to pursue an acting career. He has performed many of his recordings in his off-Broadway debut in John B. Keane鈥檚 play 鈥淪ive,鈥 where he not only acted in the production but did a nightly pre-show concert as well. He is presently a member of the 鈥淲ashington Square Harp and Shamrock Orchestra,鈥 led by Dr. Mick Moloney.
