Practice Site:  Feist-Weiller Cancer Center at Ochsner LSU-Health, Shreveport

Dr. Jill Comeau is an Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences and a board-certified hematology and oncology clinical pharmacist.  Her current practice site is at the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center (FWCC) at Ochsner LSU-Health in Shreveport, LA.  FWCC serves over 24,000 patients a year.  Her expertise is in lung, head and neck, and GI cancers.  Along with her students and pharmacy residents, she provides medication-based knowledge and skills to assist physicians in providing optimal cancer care.  This includes selecting medications to prevent and treat side effects caused by cancer and cancer treatments.  Her pharmacy team also provides medication education to patients who are diagnosed with these cancers.   Since FWCC is a safety net cancer center, she serves many underserved patients, including those with Medicare, Medicaid, or are uninsured.  The pharmacy students are pivotal to patient care in her clinic, because patients tend to feel more comfortable and are more forthcoming with their questions and medication issues. In addition, students can build relationships with the patients and impact their quality of life.

Practice Site:  Family Medicine Clinics at Ochsner LSU Health-Shreveport

Dr. Jacobs is a 2002 graduate of the Â̲èÖ±²¥ College of Pharmacy.  After graduation, she completed a primary care residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.  She then returned to Â̲èÖ±²¥  in August 2004 to begin her career in academia.  Dr. Jacobs was most recently promoted to Clinical Professor in 2019.  Dr. Jacobs teaches several therapeutics topics in the cardiovascular and respiratory/GI modules.  And she currently practices in the Family Medicine clinics at LSU Health- Shreveport and offers an ambulatory care rotation to fourth year pharmacy students.

Dr. Jacobs really enjoys providing career planning assistance to pharmacy students, particularly assistance with the residency application (CVs, interviewing, etc).  She coordinates an elective (Clinical Pharmacy Career Development) that is designed specifically to help students with this process.

Dr. Miller graduated from the University of Louisiana Monroe (Â̲èÖ±²¥) College of Pharmacy in 2011 and then completed a PGY1 Residency at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) in Little Rock, Arkansas. She practiced as an Internal Medicine Clinical Pharmacist for five years at teaching hospitals before joining the faculty at the Â̲èÖ±²¥ College of Pharmacy in 2017. Her current practice site is located at the Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport Cardiology Clinic where her students and pharmacy residents complete medication interviews and provide drug information to providers.

Dr. Terrell is a 2007 graduate of the Â̲èÖ±²¥ College of Pharmacy. She pursued residency training at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas and completed a teaching certificate program in 2008. She then returned to her alma mater in July 2008 to begin her career in academia at the Shreveport Campus. Dr. Terrell currently practices in an ambulatory care clinic at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport.

In the classroom, Dr. Terrell enjoys teaching about diabetes and women’s health topics. She also enjoys helping residency-bound students prepare for the rigorous process of applying and interviewing for coveted residency positions.

Dr. Terrell is married to Robert and enjoys spending time with her three daughters, Meredith, Camille, and Brynn, and her dachshund, Tank.

Rotation:  APPE Pediatrics-General Medicine

Practice Site:  Ochsner LSU Health-Shreveport Saint Mary's Medical Center

Dr. Tice graduated from Texas Tech HSC in 2003 with a Pharm.D. degree and completed a 2-year neonatal pharmacotherapy fellowship in North Carolina before signing on with Â̲èÖ±²¥ COP in 2005. Her focus has been providing pediatric education to the students enrolled in the PharmD curriculum but has been involved in other aspects/areas of the curriculum. She has been involved in providing pharmacotherapy services to the areas’ safety net neonatal intensive care unit for ~15 years then switched to general pediatrics in 2020. The general pediatric service takes care of all ages of pediatric patients, from birth to adult age (sometimes seeing 25 and 27-year old’s) with a plethora of medical needs and complications. The service is comprised of a multidisciplinary team that includes Physicians in all stages of their careers (attending physicians, resident and intern physicians and 3rd year medical students), PT/OT, Dieticians, Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy residents, Social Workers, and numerous others. Students selecting to complete an APPE with Dr. Tice will be exposed to a diverse patient population and health care providers (with a sense of humor) committed to improving the health and wellness of the patients they serve.
